Gerrymandering

Gerrymandering has been a back burner topic for decades. The first instance, for which the term originated, was in 1813, with Elbridge Gerry in Massachusetts. As most people know, the purpose is to manipulate the results of an election, by “pre-selecting” the voters by district, i.e., predicting the voters who are most likely to vote a particular way.

In 1993, I was working for a small, research firm in Fairfax, Virginia, which produced data analysis for Congressional Lobbyists. One of the projects I worked on was a book describing the new (1992) Congressional Districts. This was a time when Democrats were DESPERATE to gain seats in Congress. They created Districts which OBVIOUSLY struggled to select a population which was a majority of minorities – usually blacks and Hispanics – who were expected to vote primarily for Democrats. There were some particularly egregious examples in North Carolina and Miami. (noted on my websites: tomvail.bio).

Democrats are now complaining that it is Republicans who are gerrymandering. While it may be true that Republicans ARE trying to change District boundaries for the benefit of their Party, the resulting boundaries WILL NEVER be as tortured as what Democrats have done.

Listen critically to what Democrats are saying and what Corporate Propaganda Media is repeating. Then, look at the REAL evidence, and draw your own conclusions. Democrats are DESPERATE to CREATE representation, because they KNOW that they ARE NOT in the majority, they DO NOT represent the will of the people.

For a more complete summary of gerrymandering, read on Wikipedia.
